Letter to Cousin

Dear Cousin,

Hey what are you up to these days? It's been a long time since we've been able to to continue our conversation about what we are doing with our lives. So I wanted to send you this email to let you know what I am doing with my life right now.

I am currently attending Utah State University (USU). The past two semesters I have been taking classes for my major. I am going to major in Public Relations (PR), with a mionor in spanish. When I tell most people that my major is in PR, they usually have many questions. So I'll try to answer a lot of those questions for you in this email.

It is very hard to put PR in one specific category because there are so many differen't things it entails. One of the most important skills that will help you in the PR program is writing, mainly because PR deals a lot with communication. Every company that wants to be successful needs to have a very positive and strong image, effective PR work will give the company that desired image. Whether it is through newspapers, magazines, t.v., ect. PR is done on a personal level also, meaning PR workers help athletes political or any person in their profession have a good image.

PR also deals with a lot of research. It is very benificial for PR majors to be familiar with the media. All aspects of media such as news, internet, blogs, magazines, t.v., and all other forms of communication. Being able to stay up with the latest media will will help with PR work because they in PR you promote a lot of things also.

I hope that this has helped you understand a little bit more of what I am studying at school. I am sorry this letter is so short but im short on time. Till next time cousin.

Derek

I thought the length of the letter was great. I also liked that you mentioned that PR can't be put into one specific category and that you mentioned PR research. Great job.
